weaknesses
among other things, i must admit that one of my more acute weaknesses are books. and not sensible, intelligent books, either (for the most part.) this weakness pretty much includes rather stupid, fantastic, probably grossly inaccurate fictional books.take the artemis fowl series by eoin colfer. i adore those books. i completely admit that they are silly, juvenile, and probably shabbily done from a scientic point of view. but i find them irresistible. from a (very) amateur standpoint, i think eoin colfer is a genius. first of all, the imagination that goes into these books is incredible to me. second, he manages to keep this unlikely series going five novels without botching it and making it either really really boring or really really stupid. artemis fowl is a boy genius at fourteen, succeeding in blasting through the common idea of reality and unveiling an underground fairy race that includes ingenious technology and very modernized occupants. the books include detailed descriptions of hi-tech militairy equipment capable of "iris cams," flying apparatuses, and even invisibility based on highspeed atom vibration. see? it's probably completely bogus. but, it is my belief that a story's merit in reality plays absolutely NO role in the reader's interest. a book is like a simulator or a virtual universe - if the basic senses of the book SEEM real based on our previous experiences (emotions, human behavior, reactions from characters, real-life description) we are willing to accept the "authenticity" of the book-world. in other words, even if eoin colfer's scientific aspects are flawed (i honestly admit to having no clue) i as a reader am completely fooled. plus i don't care, because i'm enjoying myself.in the series, artemis discovers the fairy world. holly, a fairy police captain, attempts to keep artemis from blowing the fairys' cover. foaly (a centaur) is the fairy computer genius who makes it possible to even keep track of artemis (also a computer genius). eventually artemis matures and realizes, after many fairy bargains for gold and technology, that he has true compassion for the fairy race despite his previously cold outlook. holly becomes his partner and friend as he focuses his efforts to keeping the race from being discovered. in the most recent installment, artemis and holly struggle to keep fairy demons from popping up on earth, and artemis meets his potential match - a girl named minerva nearly his age who is close to outsmarting artemis himself.i also like the names - goddesses artemis of war and minerva of wisdom meeting at last. plus the old boy-girl rivalry. and some fairies. always a good combination.so anways, silly books like that are one of my weaknesses, pick up artemis fowl at your local library if you feel like being sucked into a completely fake world of entertainment. enjoy.i know i'm crazy. thanks for bearing with me. i feel a little sorry for you if you actually read that whole rant through. you're probably bored stiff. i promise to post a less weird post next time.love from your partially insane and faithless hairball hackress, blackcat =^-^=

>>bouncing back fast<<
it's saturday. the first weekend of school. i can't wait till monday. i love school. i dont, however, enjoy algebra tests. or biology tests, for that matter.horrible news: i'm stuck on a jesse mccartney song. it's not my fault, it was on a commercial and it has stuck with me like a leech. it's that right where you want me song. it's terribly catchy even though its not very good. does that make sense? im also stuck on tons of all-american reject (my favorite band) stuff. but then i'm always stuck on that. does it make sense to be stuck on multiple songs at one time? jessi is going to bring me fall out boy and panic at the disco cds monday, methinks. :) i love jessi, she rocks. she's lending them to me so i can burn them onto my mp3. it's going to be great. lol. i adore getting new music.i love that checker's commercial, the one where there's the right drive thru and the left drive thru and they both have the same deals except the left drive thru has RAPCAT. meow meow meow meowmemeowmeow.... it's so stupid i love it.until i fall romantically into a pit of lava, your faithless yet favorite hairball hackress, blackcat x^-^x

gableshyoo
well, today was my second day of school... i'm very tired. i'm just.... tired. school has been good - i have world history II with mr. hines first block, then pe/drivers ed with mrs. wilkins second, then algebra II with mr. rush third, and biology with mr. poster last. mr. poster is really cool. mr. rush assigns a heck of a lot of homework (every single day). we got to play with mr. poster's snakes today. i really like his snakes. they're very nice. we also took some notes... i like notes.they installed security cameras in the school with a nationwide homeland security grant. i wave at them a lot.i want some cake...

3 more days
yep, thats pretty much it, folks. just 3 more days of god-given freedom. school starts on tuesday. at least we'll have a short week, i guess. i'm actually perfectly up for school. things will start happening. :) i can't wait to see everyone and get a grip on my new classes. i went to the library today (i looove the library. when i get my liscence i will drive there all the time and stay there all day.) and surprisingly picked up some cds. usually they just have stuff i dont like... i picked up stroke 9 (which is great bc i almost bought that cd) and annie lennox and i picked up sheryl crow just to give her a try..... and i hate her. i hate sheryl crow. she is possibly the most tonedeaf, incredibly annoying artist i've ever heard. at least annie lennox is original. maybe a little too original? lol just kidding.it's raining and windy and cold and i love it. :D it's such a nice change and the plants need it really bad. and i just like the cold. my cat weighs 11.2 pounds. just a little bit of casual information. love from your most beloved faithful hairball hackress, blackcat =^6-6^=
